We continued our traitor games but this time with arithmetic practice.
The children worked well in groups even with the traitors trying to influence answers.

Subitising
Practising our subitising skills in class this week. We are rolling a dice, recognising the number then circling the corresponding dots on a piece of paper. The children are loving this already.
Invitations to play, learn, investigate and explore
Our nursery is full of invitations to play, learn, investigate and explore but first thing in the morning we vary what we have out on our carpet area. Recently, the children have loved mark making and exploring shape on large sheets of paper.

Fresh Air and Fun
The children in our nurseries have been playing in our woodland area this morning. They have produced a woodland shop with sticks, branches and leaves, they have worked cooperatively to manoeuvre on the adventure trail and they have played a guessing game using pebbles. The game was a focused…
Shapes
Today we have looked at 2D shapes. The children identified the shapes and then went into provision to find them. We discussed not being able to pick up a 2D shape and that we would need to draw round these for them to be a true circle or triangle.

We have been learning about fact families in maths this morning. We have used double sided counters and tens frames to help us work out our addition facts. In pairs we have recorded our answer on a whiteboard.
Sensory Play in Nursery A
We saw fantastic creativity and imagination in our sensory play this week. Children were focused and engaged well with the experiences provided. Cognitively, sensory play stimulates neural pathways in the brain through exploring different textures, materials and smells.

Maths happens everywhere in Reception. Here we are exploring quantities and making number blocks using multilink in the garden.
