We had a lovely afternoon tea celebration for our end of year party yesterday.  The children enjoyed making their own hats in preparation.  We also had dancing and party games in the hall.  We are ready for Reception in September!

Year One Designing Crosses

This week, Year One have been learning how Christians around the world make the sign of the cross.  We looked at different crosses and crucifixes and thought about the images and symbols on them before designing our own crosses.

Today Nursery A and B joined together for a picnic in the sunshine.  We have been reading the book The Sea Saw and this week, in relation to the text we have been planning a picnic.  We are looking forward to our beach trip next week too. The children enjoyed tasty banana oat bars that they made…

We have been working hard to maintain our garden in nursery.  We have a mixture of plants, flowers, fruit and vegetables growing.  Look carefully at the labelled pebbles to see the selection including, sunflowers, beetroot, lettuce, onions, radishes, cress, sweetcorn, courgettes and strawberries.…

Year 1 Our Jubilee Pledge

We have been talking about our Jubilee Pledge in Year 1. We have decided that we will be thinking carefully about the difference between wants and needs.

Do we really need another toy? Do we really need more clothes? Do we really want more sweets?

‘Sunday should be kept as a day of rest.’

On the playground, we debated this statement. 

The children argued either for or against putting forward their ideas and views on this statement.

There were some amazing hair creating on show this crazy hair day!  Thank you for all your support for our PTA.  

Today we visited Church and looked at the Easter display showing the cross and Jesus’s tomb. This reminded us of the different bible stories we have read about Jesus throughout our topic ‘To the Ends of the Earth’. We also looked at the baptismal font and talked about our own baptisms.

In nursery, as part of our RE topic we visited church to talk about how the parish family gathers there to pray and worship God.  We had already talked about how we belong to our family at home and our school family.
