Multiples
This week the children have been learning about multiples and factors.
We explored the different ways we can identify a multiple of 2,3,4 and 5.
Poetry - Jinnie Ghost
This week, Year 5 has been exploring poetry focusing on the poem ‘Jinnie Ghost.’

Tic-Tac-Toe Addition & Subtraction
To consolidate our learning on addition and subtraction we played in pairs a game of Tic-Tac-Toe.
To place their counter the children had to solve an addition or subtraction.
Danish Open Sandwich
This week the children created Danish open sandwiches.
Working in pairs, they carefully tasted and selected the ingredients to use for their own sandwich.

Copyright
We have been exploring copyright. As a class discussed what copyright is and why it is important.
The children created posters explaining what is copyright as well as the terms public domain and fair use.
Recount - Journey along the river
The children have worked in small groups to recount Annie’s journey in her barrel as she approaches the end of the falls.
We focused on summarising the key events as well as thinking about how Annie would have felt at each stage.
Food and Nutrition: Flatbreads
Today we have been discussing, ‘Why are our diets so different?‘
In small groups we worked together to create flatbreads using flour, salt, olive oil and cold water.

During this term we have been looking at the work of Freidensreich Hundertwasser.

Investigating Hands Spans
In this lesson, we looked at the different ways and reasons why children are measured and weighed.
As a class, we measured our hands spans and then took an average for the class, boys and girls.
Our conclusion was, ‘the larger the handspan, the taller the person.’
Maths Adventure
Today Year 5 were tasked with solving a range of mathematical problems in order to stop the Robotrons.
The children worked in small groups and applied a range of skills to find the codes needed.
