Class of 2031 (Rec)

After listening to the scripture about Palm Sunday, the children re-enacted Jesus arriving into Jerusalem on a donkey. The children waved palms and shouted “Hosanna” as Jesus arrived. 

As part of our work in RE, we have been talking about loving our neighbour and how we can show love to one another. We wrote special messages to one another and put them in the post box to send. 

These girls have spent a good part of their afternoon working together to build a camper van.  They are going to travel around Australia it visiting lots of places! 

As part of our work on our book  ‘The Pirates Are Coming’ the children were tasked with investigating their favourite sea creature and telling us all a bout it.  They could draw pictures, make models - anything they chose.  Look at the amazing creations they have made.  We are so proud of them.…

Today we went on a Spring walk around our school grounds. We saw new signs of new life growing in our flower beds, buds beginning to bloom and lots of daffodils growing. We talked about how the spring season is the season for growing and new life and how we too are learning to grow and make good…

As part of our work on space for British Science Week the children have enjoyed building a rocket in the garden.  We have also watched parts of the Tim PeakeLive ~Space Lesson on BBC telling us all about how to become an astronaut and what its like in space!  

In celebration of Shrove Tuesday, the children had a special visitor come in to school to make pancakes with the children. We talked about what ingredients we need to make pancakes and how they are cooked. The children choose their toppings and ate their pancakes together!

The dream cave has been transformed this week with an uppers theatre and lots of hand puppets.  The children are excited to put on shows for each other.  

In preparation for pancake day tomorrow we have set up a tuff tray for the children to practise their cooking skills! 

In Reception we have been investigating germs.  We used pepper in water to illustrate how germs cling to our skin and talked about how they can make us sick.  We then washed our hands with soap and were astonished at how the germs did not stay on our hands! The children were very excited to discover that over the half term holiday, flowers are starting to peep up through the soil in our garden. We have to be very careful not to trample the delicate flowers.   We can’t wait for the weather to keep improving and the exciting changed to our environment.…

This week we have created a sensory smelling station in our garden.  We have put several herbs and spices in jars and encouraged the children to smell them and talk about them.  They loved the coco powder but the garlic salt was not so popular!
