Year 1- Cross-hatching 

We have been learning about cross-hatching in art today. We used charcoal, pencils and pens to make the marks and smudged some of the marks with our fingers. 

Reading our class novel

Yesterday, Mia read our class story to the whole class. Determination, power and courage. She is only ten and confident! Ms G still gets nervous and she has done it for 27 years!

This week we have been looking closely at different coloured leaves and pine cones. We also found a beautiful caterpillar in our outdoor area. 

The children have been using concrete apparatus to help them find different combinations of tens and ones to make a given number.

Following on from our lesson on search engines, we looked at a clip of the Chocolate Whopper from Burger King and researched the life of the Pacific Tree Octopus. We then discussed how the clips and links we viewed were fake.

Year 1 Outdoor PE

Year 1 had a lovely time outdoors for PE today. We have been learning to keep a steady breath, move our arms faster to help us to move quickly and run on the balls of our feet. Well done Year 1! 

We have been enjoying our camping adventure so much, that today we learnt how to put a tent up and erected it together in our nursery garden.  Ms Pankiv, our nursery link governor arrived just at the right time to get involved too!

The children have loved exploring our new mud kitchen in our outdoor area! The children have engaged in pretend and messy play by cooking with mud and water. Our mud kitchen has been great for the children to develop their fine motor skills and engage in role play.
