Learning to dribble and move with the basketball.

After reading God’s Rainbow we thought about all our actions that harm God’s world. We talked about how we can turn over a new leaf and put them right. 

Representing Numbers 

The children have been learning how to represent numbers using counters on the tens frame. 

“I like putting the counters on the frame.” 

After watching a clip of Niagara Falls, we used our senses to imagine what it must have been like watching Annie Edson Taylor as she crossed the Falls in her barrel.

We worked together and selected vocabulary linked to what we would see, hear and how we would have felt at the time.

Texture Artwork in Year 1

The children have been very busy in Year 1 this week looking at various textures. They looked at the materials and talked about the different textures before gluing them onto a flat surface. 
 

“ I wish I could do this every day.” 

We have been learning about subtractive drawing. This is an art technique that involves covering a surface with charcoal or graphite and then erasing parts of it to create an image.

The children focused on creating a setting or landscape in the style of Frank Auerbach.

Our very first stars of the week in Reception, but very well done to everyone for an amazing week.  The children have been brilliant at settling in and finding their feet!
