We welcomed Justine from CAFOD to speak to all of the children about World Gifts today.

She came and talked about the work of CAFOD, what World Gifts are and how we can help in the work of CAFOD this advent season.

We have started to use Scratch to create music.

In this lesson, we have been tinkering and getting used to using the programme.

Over the next few weeks we will be developing our skills using Scratch.

The children enjoyed sharing books with their friends or by themself.

Year One - Prayers to Mary

Making Hail Mary prayer cards to take home as part of our Religious Education learning about Mary, Mother of God.

We have been investigating colour and how  they are created. We have learned about primary, secondary and tertiary colours. 

Year One - Library Visit

This afternoon, the children enjoyed a visit to our school library, sharing a book with friends and discovering new reads.

In this lesson we explored the effects of air resistance.

We looked at how air resistance (drag) is a force which acts as friction between objects and air.

We conducted an experiment using parachutes to see whether the size of the parachute impacts the time it takes an object to fall.

After analysing traditional tales, we used a planning grid to write a 100 word tale using elements of traditional tales.

Inspired by the work of Piet Mondrian, the children used their painting skills of ‘dip, dip, dab’ to create an abstract painting in the style of Piet Mondrian.

We were so excited to see the snow on Tuesday morning.  Although there wasn’t that much we certainly made the most of it! Apart from a few cold hands we had a great time.

We have been looking at the artist Piet Mondrian in Year 1 this afternoon. We looked at the shapes and colours used and painted our own designs.
